Rockhopper Exploration

Company Profile

landscape

Rockhopper Exploration PLC is a UK company which was set up in 2004 to explore for oil and gas in the Falkland Islands. Rockhopper has licences to explore in the North Falkland Basin. The acreage was selected as the Directors considered it relatively low risk in exploration terms, with both proven oil and gas and is in relatively modest water depths.

The company has completed an ambitious work programme since listing on AIM in 2005, which has included 2D and 3D seismic and Controlled Source Electromagnetic Mapping (CSEM), drilling a number of wells and conducting a successful well test.

In 2010 the company made the first oil discovery in the Falkland Islands in well 14/10-2 on the Sea Lion target. The well was subsequently successfully flowed for 18 hours in the first flow test in the Falklands.

The company now intends to drill a number of wells during 2011 in addition to collecting new 3D seismic data.
